Understanding Asthma

Stephen enjoys traveling, working around the house, and riding his bike. What he doesn’t enjoy are his asthma symptoms.

A year ago, Stephen was diagnosed with mild persistent asthma and started an oral treatment, but found he still needed his rescue inhaler twice a week or more. When his asthma symptoms acted up, even simple, everyday tasks became a challenge.

This spring, Stephen could not control his breathing. That’s when his doctor prescribed PULMICORT FLEXHALER.

Now Stephen feels his asthma is under control. He needs his rescue inhaler twice a week or less. And he can do more of the things he really enjoys.

When Stephen was originally diagnosed with mild persistent asthma, he wanted to know more about his condition. Here’s what he learned:

  • Asthma is a chronic lung disease in which the airways become inflamed and narrow, and breathing becomes difficult
  • Symptoms include shortness of breath, coughing, wheezing, and chest tightness
  • If symptoms persist 3 or more times a week, a physician should be consulted about the use of another type of controller medication. To find out about more about this type of medicine click here
